Dream meaning: Teeth, Tooth

Dream interpretation for Teeth, toothTeeth are one of the most common dream symbols.

In dreams teeth can represent one or more of the following:

  • strength and aggressiveness
  • youth, vitality
  • greed or devouring instincts, envy
  • your self-confidence or estimation of your abilities

Dreams involving the loss, breakage, yellowing of teeth are extremely common and are most often regarded by psychologists as signs that the dreamer is worried (consciously or sub-consciously) about the loss or weakening of his or her strength, youth, beauty,  or self-confidence.

To dream about teeth or a tooth can symbolize the breakdown of psychological information in order to defeat, understand or integrate it (i.e chewing on something).

Dreaming of teeth or of a tooth can symbolize the ability to get what we want, words we say or swallow, our social appearance, and it is often sign of our age.

Dreaming of losing some or all of one’s teeth can mean “losing it”. Not being able to get what one really wants, hence it is experienced as a sort of death or loss of self. In some cultures losing teeth traditionally portends the death of a family member.

Bad tooth: a symbol of a painful part of one’s feelings, life or relationships; angry or regretful words.

False teeth: can mean false face, lies, breaking promises, or the aging process and loss of youthful looks.

Spitting out teeth: can mean admitting something, saying it or expressing it emotionally.

Teeth falling out in a dream can be interpreted as sense of loss, such as a death of someone close to you. Falling teeth can represent worries about getting older – loss of youth and vitality. If a single tooth is lost it could mean loss or change of something important to you.

To be toothless in a dream can be interpreted as loss of effectiveness, or again, feelings about aging.

Below are some traditional interpretations of teeth as dream symbols:

  • An ordinary dream of teeth augurs the onset of illness, or disquieting people.
  • If you dream that your teeth are loose, there will be failures and gloomy tidings.
  • If the doctor pulls your tooth, you will suffer a lingering illness that will be severe , if not fatal.
  • To have your teeth filled, you will recover lost valuables after much uneasiness.
  • To clean or wash your teeth, foretells that some great struggle will be demanded of you in order to preserve your fortune.
  • To dream that you are having a set of teeth made, denotes that severe crosses will fall upon you, and you will strive to throw them aside.
  • If you lose your teeth, you will have burdens which will crush your pride and demolish your affairs.
  • To dream that you have your teeth knocked out, denotes sudden misfortune. It may mean that your business will suffer, or that there will be death or accidents close to you.
  • To dream of examining your teeth, is a warning to be careful of your affairs, as enemies are lurking near you.
  • If your teeth appear decayed or crooked, your business or health will suffer from intense strains.
  • To dream of spitting out teeth, portends personal sickness, or sickness in your immediate family.
  • Imperfect teeth is one of the worst dreams. It predicts multiple mishaps for the dreamer. A loss of property, failure in one’s plans and desires, health problems, depression.
  • For one tooth to fall out, foretells disagreeable news; if two, it denotes unhappy states that the dreamer will be plunged into from no carelessness on his part.
  • To dream of tartar or any deposit falling off of the teeth and leaving them sound and white, is a sign of temporary indisposition, which will pass, leaving you wiser in regard to conduct, and you will find enjoyment in the discharge of duty.
  • To admire your teeth for their whiteness and beauty, foretells that pleasant occupations and much happiness will be experienced through the fulfillment of wishes.
  • To dream that a dentist cleans your teeth perfectly, and the next morning you find them dirty, foretells someone you trust will deceive you.

I had this dream that I went to put my false teeth back in my mouth and the plate somehow was bigger and wouldn’t fit in my mouth . I woke up and don’t know if i ever got them to fit.

  • Edo // Apr 20, 2015 at 9:47 am

I’ve dreamt that one of my front bottom teeth was broken but was still hanging off the root of the tooth, which was still in my mouth. When I went to check in the mirror I kept trying to fix it. I had two guys urge that i go to the dentist and get it fix.

  • Ebony // Apr 20, 2015 at 8:27 am

I woke up. MY body was fit, like the body I had always wanted. I was getting ready for school, and I woke up to floss my teeth.
My hair was short, which was unusual because I was always wanting to grow it.
As I began flossing, I felt the floss get stuck and flicks of my teeth starting breaking in my mouth.
At first it was no big deal, as I continued flossing, and the whole tooth fell out.
I started brushing to get the blood out of my mouth, and my wisdom tooth fell out, I showed my father and I said “I need to see the dentist.” and he said “Your brother can take you.
I wasn’t my house I was living in by the way.
It was a house I can’t recall, and the washroom of the first house I remember living in.
When I returned to the washroom to continue grooming my teeth, I flossed, and the teeth that were white, began slowly turning black over, and chipping and crumbling out.
When the bigger pieces were falling out, I tried to rinse the blood off them to get a better look, and they literally started to turn to mush.
Like wet sand or gritty melted marshmallow, but still held the form of the tooth.
Despite being black in my mouth, when the pieces came out, they were yellowish brown.
The only teeth that remained in contact, where the front ones. I flossed them first before the back ones.
I had only done the left side of my mouth. I wonder if the right side would have fallen out too.
I went to show my father that I needed to go to the dentist NOW, and showed him the mushy teeth.
He got mad at me “Why did you have to go and ruin them?” and he didn’t want me seeing the dentist until after I went to school. (which is weird, because I haven’t been to school in months).
The dream ended with me hovering over the sink, staring at myself in the mirror.

  • Mandy // Jan 10, 2015 at 10:00 am

I am a dental hygienist. I was dreaming that my boss took several of my teeth out and the teeth were healthy. Some of the teeth were silver and the other ones were natural teeth. I was so concerned and shocked about what she did. I was concerned about the financial cost of replacing my teeth. She was also showing me how some of my other teeth have deep cavities and she had to remove the health ones in order to fix the ones with cavities.

I’ve been having dreams that I’m pushing out my teeth with my other set of teeth and when I try to stop I can’t then I will wake up and my teeth are actually hurting quite a bit

  • Dan // Oct 30, 2014 at 5:36 pm

I’m trying to figure out what a dream i had last night meant. I basically looked in the bathroom mirror inside my mouth and one of my bottom front teeth was missing, the others were bring held together by some sort of braces, but what creeped me out the most was that the back mollars were bolted down tight with actual bolts

  • mandy // Oct 6, 2014 at 4:05 pm

Darren, ive been having the exact same type of thing happen in my dreams. Like I go through different scenarios but I keep getting my teeth stuck like you explained. Its usually before I wake up and at the time it feel so painful and real and I feel like if I try to separate my lower jaws from the top Im gonna pull out all my teeth or something. I had the dream again last night which is why id love to have explanation for it.

  • Courtney // Sep 29, 2014 at 3:29 pm

Dreaming frequently of biting down on my teeth so hard that they break. Please help.

  • Darren // Sep 23, 2014 at 10:18 pm

I frequently have this dream and in total about 7 or 8 times.
Its like my top teeth get stuck behind my bottom teeth and with the slight outward pain along my bottom teeth its also cramping my jaw, as I begin to open my mouth to release my top teeth it forces my bottom teeth further out and I can feel my gums starting to split and as Im trying to do it slowly to prevent any damage my jaw starts cramping even more.
Its weird and I always wondered what it meant..

  • Becky // Sep 2, 2014 at 7:23 pm

Every so often I have dreams of my losing my teeth which is always horrifying to me. I truly fear this happening. Last night I had a dream that tooth after tooth was falling out. Some completely others were coming apart with only small pieces left behind. My lower jaw also fell out. I kept trying to find a dentist and the money to have it fixed but couldn’t. It was very unsettling.

I dreamt a lot of new shoes in my closet, and my ex was showing me how white his teeth were.

  • Sarah // Jan 18, 2014 at 7:49 pm

I need to know what the hell it means when you dream that teeth are growing underneath your hair. I was losing my hair in the back, like when a sick person looses clumps of hair but it was only in the back & I put my fingers through my hair & spotted teeth. I am a dental assistant but still…Way weird dream!!

  • Heather // Jan 10, 2014 at 8:03 am

I had a weird dream last night. I had a dream of many vampires around me. Two of them were women. I watched the women feed on corpses. One male Vampire liked me and he showed up everywhere. I even slightly innocently seduced him. I only saw body parts of the woman vampire as she fed off another… When the dream was coming to an end I looked in the mirror at my teeth. I chipped off a piece of tartar off my ones of my incisor tooth. I looked at my incisors a bit closer they became larger and an Amber color. One tooth almost looked like bark.
I never once felt fearful for my life. I felt a bit nervous a few times, but that’s really it.
It was a strange dream. Does anybody know what this could mean>?

  • David // Nov 23, 2013 at 5:47 am

I’ve been having dreams frequently lately about my teeth being inflamed. Almost too big for my mouth. And one of them is loose. It feels like I can’t even talk in the dream. I just cover my mouth to try to take control or ease the pain. I’m not sure how to interpret it.

  • Cat // Jul 29, 2013 at 5:27 am

I was flossing and when I was flossing between my two bottom front teeth my right bottom front tooth kinda got caught and I flossed it like the floss was like a cheese cutter. First it only sliced a little. Then i did it again, same tooth. My teeth were big though like it looked like my front tooth (could be remembering wrong). My tooth was so thin I could push against my gum with my tounge and see my tounge in the mirror. I still went to work. I was trying to not play with it with my tounge. I guess I bit down and then a bunch of them broke. I had to excuse myself from the meeting and go to the bathroom. I spit them all out and put them in a baggie. The tooth that I have composite on to make it look better: the composite fell off. I had a baby tooth, I can’t remember what happened to the tooth that I currently have and implant. Another tooth was like cut in half lengthwise. One was messed up like it looks when the dentist preps if for a crown or bridge but it was brown like decayed. It was like my teeth were looking like before I had work done and then the rest were even worse. It was only visible teeth. I work part time for a dentist on the side of my full time job. I called him and when he saw them he was very calm and said we’d get then fixed. I remember spilling water on his counter and he helped me clean it up before it got his books. I think I woke up when he was sedating me.

  • Leney Pie // Jun 5, 2013 at 6:17 pm

I had a dream last night that my teeth were wobbly & then like five teeth fell out of my mouth my hand was covered in blood & then one of my teeth (which I actually happen to have a hole in) had a hole in where the gum is but it was like ten times worse than it is in real life, I just want to know what exactly my dream meant.

  • BDozier // May 30, 2013 at 7:15 pm

I dreamed last night that me and a couple of buddies were in a gym about to play a game of basketball. For some reason we began like a real game and did a “jump ball” and in coming down, my buddy had his tooth knocked out. I was an observer, but quickly realized it was the end and declared “game over” to the group. The odd thing is that I distinctly remember hearing the tooth hit the floor. The sound is what I remember. Then after looking up, I realized that the goals and backboards were gone, so we would not have gotten far anyway. Or maybe they disappeared after the tooth was knocked out. Strange indeed.

  • Alison // Apr 29, 2013 at 12:24 am

I’ve had two dreams in the last two weeks about several of my teeth falling out, roots and all. It is very real when I’m dreaming it, and I wake up suddenly, relieved that it was only a dream and my teeth are still there! My lovely Mum passed away just three weeks ago. I am sure these dreams are connected to her death and the grief and stress I am experiencing. I miss her so much, the dreams must surely reflect my great feelings of loss and sadness? I never dreamt about tooth loss before my mother’s death.

  • Elisha // Jan 13, 2013 at 7:46 am

I dreamt I was looking at my teeth in the mirror and all of a sudden the enamel drained from one of the front the teeth (on the left to be precise). I looked at my teeth again all but that tooth was fine, that tooth was now just a clear cased shell and instead of enamel it was gold strips??

  • linda // Nov 29, 2012 at 3:05 pm

I had a dream where I was examining my teeth, and I looked towards the back of my molars and felt that i still had the brackets from previous braces. As i tried to pull them out more steel like material would come out. at one point i had to open my mouth out so that more “nuts n bolts” would be able to come out. Also as I looked towards the inside of my side of mouth a long steel like plaque was there and i took that out as well…. Now I have never had a dream like this? what would you think that means?

  • Adela // Oct 10, 2012 at 8:09 am

I’ve had dentures since I was 18. Now I’m 26. I had a dream that I broke them myself. Like I literally bit down hard with them out of my mouth in my hand. Scary considering how much they cost. Then my enemy was hanging out with my sister and I. I don’t know why I’d dream of her alongside with hanging out. Then I quit smoking cigarettes 48 day’s ago (something I’m really proud of) and smoked in my dream. And even thought of doing it again. When I woke I checked my dentures and felt dissatisfied that I even in my dream can mess up my roll on not smoking. Can someone shed some wise words as I am the lostest I’ve ever been.

  • bunty // Aug 9, 2012 at 8:27 pm

I had a dream that I bit my teeth in anger and suddenly all my teeth broke. I was spitting them out when I gargled with water. I had this dream very often… but yesterday in my dream I had a mouth guard so even though I bit my teeth in anger, no teeth fell out.

  • Laura // May 21, 2012 at 9:57 am

Dreamt of living in post-apocalyptia with an unrecognizable companion, being hunted by packs of wild cats. Sleeping on the patio of an abandoned apartment building, woke up to my top right second-to-last molar severely chipped. No pain, thinking I must have ground my teeth way too hard that night, and wondering how the hell I’d find and pay a dentist to fix it. Spit it out but companion was more concerned with the sleeping wild cats surrounding us. We quietly left, tho I had some reason to poke and prod at one animal without disturbing it, it was laying on something important but I can’t remember what. Walking and musing aloud where to find a good dentist and why the tooth didn’t hurt. Another peice fell out. No pain, no blood, just bits of tooth(mostly enamel) in my hand. I could feel the sharp edges of what remained in my mouth and could not leave it alone, too big and sharp to leave alone. Finally woke up from the dream… to my cat begging for food.

  • Evelyn // May 8, 2012 at 11:14 am

I had a dream last night that about a half of one of my front teeth broke off. Then the dream proceeded with me breaking off the other front teeth to match in length. Also, I started to pull vertical “stripes” off my teeth which caused them to thin. This only happened to my two front teeth on top, none of my incisors or molars were affected.

  • Mel // Apr 8, 2012 at 2:53 pm

Dee, your dream sounds almost identical to my dream…the teeth were twisting on becoming crooked on their own…almost life taffy, then they kept coming out, as I was holding them in my hands…I had gaping holes…and I went and woke the dentist up…weird thing is I have this dream repeatedly, and I am psychic and still I cant figure this one out!! hmmm?

  • Kristina E // Mar 20, 2012 at 6:29 am

In my dream I was in a house with two women. One was my age and one was much older, her mother even. We were sitting around in her room and I hit my head on the windowpane purposely. One of my upper front teeth (Left of my right eye tooth) had cracked all the way up vertically, but both sides were still connected to my mouth. It wasn’t just cracked it had some sort of strings connecting each side of the tooth together. I showed the older woman in my dream and she just looked, not saying anything. So I went back to the bedroom but then my teeth were fixed and I was smiling.

I had a dream about my ex-boy friend. In the dream his teeth are very bright. What does it mean?

  • ark12 // Mar 5, 2012 at 4:26 pm

This is the first time I’ve ever dream about loosing a teeth. In my dream, I remember I was in the bathroom checking the mirror and one of my bottom right molars was loose. Unlike how normal teeth will be sitting on top of your gum, this one has fell into the gum cavity and it was loose. I tried to remove it with my hand but it wasn’t possible so I took a pair of tweezers (wasn’t clean it if I actually used tweezers) to remove it. Then I was checking the teeth out in my hand and have this gaping hole feeling in my mouth where that loose teeth was. Then I remember my mother came and ask, will it grow out? I said no, it’s not my baby teeth, and I was thinking in my mind, wow, now I have to get a fake teeth! Should I go with gold or silver? After that the dream somehow ended and I still have the original in my hand.
What does this mean? I hope it’s nothing bad. 🙁

I dream that my teeth are yellow and I am very upset looking at them.

  • Dee // Jan 16, 2012 at 9:37 pm

Last night I dreamt that I was in a white lighted room, looking at my face in a gold-framed mirror. I could hear my mother talking to me in the background, as I inspected myself I looked at my teeth, i could see a bottom front right tooth become crooked, it kept twisting on its own. I freaked out and touched it and the tooth was really loose. I spat it out onto my right hand. and felt the void with my tongue; No blood or pain or anything. I felt anguish and anger. I turn around to tell my mother what just happened and she blows me off with a “good-intentioned” remark. (Dont recall what). I look in the mirror again, and now a tooth from my front, bottom left side was missing…i couldnt find it so i figured I swallowed it or something. I turn around to see if maybe i dropped it and all of a sudden I see blood pouring from my mouth. I freak out, and run to a nearby sink and rinse my mouth out with water. The bleeding suddenly stops. I look again in the mirror and I dont feel bad, just a funny feeling because of my new gapped smiley face. And then I feel more reasured from a voice inside my head telling me that it was ok, because i was getting my new teeth from the lab in 2 weeks….

I’m really stunned by such a frightful dream, and I’m kinda terrified by what it might refer to.

  • maria // Dec 10, 2011 at 10:18 am

Just last night I had this dream of one of my back lower teeth falling out. I do not remember where I was, I think it was an office and my tooth started hurting so I touched to see if anything was wrong. But all of a sudden it came off. I remember that I pulled it out and there was no blood, and when I saw it it looked normal, but it had the roots like the size of an adult’s pinky finger.

I got so scared I called my mother and told her, but she just said it was one of my baby teeth falling out. But I’m going to turn 14yrs. old. I think its too old to still have baby teeth! Also I remember, like 2yrs. ago, I had the same dream and about a week later I heard that my uncle had died because he had gotten very sick. He had the same disease my father has right now, so right now I’m really worried for him. Anybody plz tell me another meaning to falling teeth to just feel better!!!

  • elissa // Oct 1, 2011 at 6:20 pm

I dreamt that I was under a kitchen table trying to pick up broken pieces from a mirror when I was called out by someone. So as not to cut my hands, I kind of shimmied backwards, moving my hands along the carpet which actually shot up tons of tiny fragmented shards of glass that went into my mouth. I was very careful not to move my mouth for fear i would cut myself. I first tried finding someone who would help me, my brother or grandma, but when i couldn’t find them. I tried rolling my tongue around to catch all the glass to the front. I started bleeding like crazy and my mouth became numb the more glass i took out. Eventually the shards were getting stuck in my teeth and because i was numb i started pulling out teeth which were stuck on some of the glass pieces. I took out maybe three teeth without feeling any more pain, and i found my grandma and grandpa to explain to them but they didn’t understand because i couldnt talk any better than jibberish with a mouth full of blood and missing teeth so i had to write on a piece of paper “I ate glass” so they would get it. My dentist for whatever reason was also there, and because i had left my teeth in the sink with the glass pieces he said he would put my teeth back in first thing in the morning but he was upset that he had to do it because he also had a root canal to do that morning. Now, IRL, my grandpa who I was trying to get help from passed away 12 years ago. Also IRL, it just so happens I work at a dentist’s office and my dentist is my boss – I am one of the administrators so I am very conscious about my teeth but Ive never dreamt like this before. Really creeped me out…

I dreamed that my three right teeth and one bottom tooth fell out. I had put in a piece of tissue and the others were loose. My gum was inflamed. I took the teeth and went to the dentist. There were women smoking, so I had to wait for my turn outside. I am worried about this dream.

  • K8 // Sep 3, 2011 at 9:39 am

I had a terrifying dream last night. It was very sudden and nothing led up to it, but all of the sudden. ALL of my bottom front teeth just started falling out and i couldn’t stop them. There was so much blood and i was sobbing in my dream. It was so real i woke up, shaking, and crying. I guess this is because my parents are both losing their jobs and we are so worried about my dad’s health. He is so stressed, we are scared he is going to have a heart attack. Maybe that’s why i had the dream. Never before have i had a dream like that.

I had a dream last night where I pulled out my bottom left molar tooth (I’m pretty sure it has another cavity), but it had very long roots and was still attached to the gums.

  • Tamara // Jun 24, 2011 at 10:38 pm

In my dream I was looking in a mirror and noticed something yellow on my tongue(maybe it was plaque build up). As I try 2 scrape it off, 4 teeth grow where the plaque was. The teeth were white and normal length. I look closer and try to just touch the teeth, they come out easily! What on earth could that mean??

  • elmo // Jun 1, 2011 at 4:51 am

rose, feb 19, 2011! i had the same dream last night.
also, there was no blood, and it didnt seem to hurt while i was pulling them off, and only myy upper teeth were involved. i was with my boyfriend and girl friend when it happened. and we were just laughing about it as if it was totally normal. i was like “i guess no prom pics tonight” and smiled with my upper gums. so wierd.

  • ann // May 23, 2011 at 7:48 pm

I had a very disturbing dream which concerns my teeth. If I remember correctly I had this dream about 2 or 3 times already. Just last week I dreamed that I was brushing my teeth then I began pulling my teeth out because they were loose. To be accurate I was removing my molars on my left cheek in the lower part of my mouth. I remember the intense pain I felt. And it really felt real. I think I was crying at that time… the last time I dreamed about losing my teeth my uncle died. From where I came from we believe that losing your teeth means someone close to you is going to die… I don’t know if it just a coincidence but I would really like to shed light on that dream of mine. p>

I dreamt last night that all my back teeth fell out and sort of crumbled. I then researched what it meant and it was right, I felt exactly the way it described. It’s amazing how our human brains can remember such things, and have dreams like that, wow (:

  • jake // May 16, 2011 at 7:42 am

I dreamt last night that I was driving in my car and almost hit some older people on a go-cart. they stopped to explain they didnt have ay lights and after i realized i knew them, we visited for a second. all of a sudden there was a large croud of people and my ear itched, so i iteched it and it started to bleed, everywhere. the next thing i rememer is that i started reguritating some red gunk, not slimy, just gunky and after i had about a bowling ball worth of gunk built up, it stopped. i ran to a building which was a tanning salon to get a towell, and i looked in the mirror and alll my teeth were gone, but still in my mouth, under my tongue just loosely laying there.

    thank god i woke up

  • lokey // May 12, 2011 at 4:05 pm

I dreamed that my one tooth was accidently hit by one of my kids and became loose, then eventually fell out then another grew back. Then the same tooth fell out, another fell out and both grew back. This happen again for two more teeth. Then the same four teeth fell out and they began to come back in the wrong form. After while, all four teeth fell out again and for a while I just had gums. At first I felt ugly and then I looked in the mirror and realized it wasn’t so bad. Then, I began seeing my teeth growing back correctly again.

  • A // May 12, 2011 at 9:29 am

I dreamt that one of my lower front teeth came out–think it was an eyetooth. I found it and was suprised at how big it was, only half of it had been poking up through my gum. I was scared that I would lose it, although I’m not sure what I was keeping it for. It seemed important. In the dream, going to a dentist was not an option. I was heartbroken that I couldn’t open my mouth anymore without looking ugly, and felt incomplete and imperfect. I’m a Virgo and often dream about things being slightly imperfect–it drives me crazy. The other main character of this dream was a man who was like my father, my grandfather, and my husband all in one package. None of these men are/were evil in real life, although as with anyone they all have had problems. In the dream there was something very dark and evil about this composite man. I was standing with him and some other people in a dingy kitchen with a checkerboard floor, and I kept running my tongue over the raw smooth place where my tooth had been. The man examined my mouth–there was a tooth that had been hidden behind the now-lost one, deformed and growing at a severe angle. I realized my teeth had not had enough room to grow and this one had been pushed to the back. I wondered if there was a way to train this tooth to stand up, and to push it forward into the gap. I was pleased by the idea of what seemed like a loss actually meaning that there would no longer be this superfluous tooth hiding in the back of my mouth, although I had no idea how to go about moving it. But the examination must have reopened my gum because suddenly I was bleeding. My mouth was full of blood and I was calm and almost savoring the drama of it. Blood kept coming and I spat it down my chin and everyone looked horrified, which pleased me. I started to feel so tired and collapsed against a wall, as if the earth was sucking me down. The bleeding turned into a kind of arterial-like spray out of my mouth, pooling all over the black and white floor. I did not know I could bleed so much, or so violently. I was unnerved but really more tired than anything else. With a great effort of will I used my tongue to push the gum back together, and held it until the bleeding stopped. I looked and saw that the man probing around the wound had indeed torn it open, although it was now healing.

The strange thing is that afterwards, my dream turned into a very unpleasant one about this man, mainly focused on me being afraid of him and trying to keep away from him while also having no home but the one he lived in. At one point I was so afraid that I locked myself in the bathroom, knocked out a narrow window-screen and crawled naked into the alleyway. I didn’t want to go back inside, so I went around the house to the carport for old clothes stored there–but he was in it. I had to sneak around him and crouch behind things. Still later in the dream I returned to the house after an absence and there were these dirty, miserable children and teenagers, almost like a sweatshop. The man was dealing cocaine and when I came up to the front door this beautiful naked young girl got up off of a sofa and laughed at me. I was so sad because she was glowingly gorgeous and it was pretty obvious something questionable was going on. The composite man came out of a back room and the dream shifted into a marriage scenario, the house was empty. He was being nice to me. But then I opened the front door and saw him standing at the trunk of his car with a friend, and they glanced over at me and were really angry. I realized he was dealing to her and all of the previous situation came flooding back. He invited her in, and they were both laughing at me and being sarcastic and I felt entirely pathetic and trapped.

I have read some of the interpretations of tooth dreams as being signs of aging, which would make sense coupled with the beautiful girl, but I am only 26. I cannot clearly remember having had any other tooth dreams.

  • Chris // May 2, 2011 at 3:12 pm

I had a dream last night about teeth for the first time that I can ever remember dreaming about teeth. I lost 2 sections of teeth. The first was like a chunk of 4 or 5 teeth and the gum holding them. It was like a chunk of my lower gum just coming out. I think I bit them off my mouth, but I’m not sure about that. The second was another section of teeth that came out from the top of my mouth. This time they were broken off from the top middle and jagged remnants of teeth were left in my mouth, but my gums were still in place. When I looked in a mirror, I think I saw new teeth in the gums waiting to come down. In both cases I don’t remember necessarily feeling pain or seeing blood, which surprised me. I’ll try to remember to write again if I have more dreams or if anything “substantial” happens in my life or in the lives of my family and friends.

  • Kelsey // Apr 28, 2011 at 8:03 am

I’ve my teeth dream for idk how long but it’s always the same ending, I have the dream every once in a great while so it’s not often but I can still vividly remember it. I’m not sure how it starts because it always starts differently, anyways it ends with me being dragged by someone and hurts so bad that my teeth completely shatter into tiny chunks that i have to spit out, when I do finally get all the chunks out, there are little jagged pieces left in my gums. I don’t know what this means but I hate it, I wake up and feel like i’ve been choking on those little tiny pieces. I still can’t find anyone with a dream like this and I am desperate to find out what it means!

  • Parveen // Apr 19, 2011 at 8:04 pm

I also saw that one of my teeth had fallen, it was one of my bottom 4 teeth. I don’t know what is the meaning of this. But I am sure it is a bad signal for future. Heee…..

  • Jen // Mar 29, 2011 at 9:34 am

I’ve only ever had this dream twice (that I remember), but both were in different settings. The first was in my basement apartment back home, and I can’t recall what I’m doing before hand, but I go into my bathroom because my teeth hurt and I end up painlessly pulling a bunch of them out. It was eerily vidid, but I didn’t think much of it at the time. That was sometime in spring last year, when I was still living at home. The second one I had last night. I was in my dorm room, packing to go home for this summer. My teeth hurt, really really hurt, and I pulled three of them out. There was a lot of blood, and more pain. I woke up as I was about to pull out a fourth. This has really freaked me out, because it felt so real.

  • meg // Mar 25, 2011 at 2:51 pm

I always have this dream, where my mouth is soo sore, it hurts so much, and my jaw is locked. So I bite really really hard and break all my back teeth and when they break all the pain is relieved!
It’s so weird, I hate having that dream.

  • Jessica // Mar 10, 2011 at 9:31 am

I had a dream last night that the cap I have on my front tooth (it got knocked out many many years ago) fell out. But it didn’t only come out, I dreamed that I bit down so hard with my bottom teeth that I ripped it out and no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t stop. It seemed so real that I could even feel the pain. I was reading that it could mean loss or something. Right before that dream, I had a dream that my husband was sleeping with this girl that he even showed to me before they did their thing, while I was home and like he just didn’t care. So the person that I ran to for help or to help me through it was my ex before my husband. They were both so vivid and real that I woke up first checking my teeth and then feeling this heavy burden on my heart and having to remind myself it was a dream and I shouldn’t feel so hurt. If you knew my husband you would know he would never do such a thing to me. I trust him 100% so I really have no idea where that came from. I wonder if that could be why I dreamed of ripping my tooth out? IDK. Any thoughts?

So in the last 7 years I’ve had these dreams about me losing teeth… One time I lost 4 teeth in my dream. Within 2 months afterward (1) My niece’s aunt died of cancer (2) My sister’s brother in law died in a car accident (3) My mom’s old friend from high school died – I forgot how. And (4) my dad’s coworker died from cancer. Just last year I had a dream that I lost 2 teeth. (1) My coworkers neighbor died of cancer and (2) My coworker’s mother’s friend died…shot. I just now had a dream I lost 2 more teeth…like last week…so now I’m nervous. 🙁

  • mamamojo // Feb 27, 2011 at 9:17 pm

I had a very intense dream of having a huge tooth protruding from my mouth, and a series of events with a dentist or trying to see a dentist to work on it. While waiting, one of my molars fell out, and I felt much anxiety and sadness in the dream. What does a dream of a huge tooth mean?

  • Kelly // Feb 25, 2011 at 8:56 am

I have had the same recurring dream almost every night for months now. I am clenching my jaw so tight that my teeth are cutting my gums and are breaking in my mouth. It is extremely painful and there is a lot of blood. No matter how hard I try to stop clenching my jaw, I just cant stop. It is horrible.

  • Mimi // Feb 21, 2011 at 1:50 am

I have never had a dream of losing teeth in my life until recently. It’s been once a week (for 2 weeks) and first one it was really brief where a few teeth came out. But a few nights ago it was really memorable. I remember my teeth were loose. And I was in denial of my front tooth being loose, and I kept pushing it up. Finally I gave up (because it was basically already off) and pulled it off (with no force) and a plastic thing was attached to it on the top (that very tooth I pulled out in my dream is half fake in real like because I chipped it 8 years ago) than two other teeth fell out (my molars) and finally my lower front tooth. These ones just fell into my hand.

What I remember too is that oddly enough that all of them that fell were on my left side. Except the lower front tooth it was the left side.

To make things weirder, when I was gently pulling the front tooth off (the half fake one) there was a perfectly new tooth behind it.

I’ve just had really weird dreams…I also had a dream a few nights ago watching some one taming a poisonace snake (a vicious one too) and when I came back it was beheaded and it just scared me.

    I’m 20 so I doubt I’m going through menopause!

I have the same dream every night for a bout a year. I’m 18 looking for a job and need money for school. But my dreams are always my lower front teeth fall out, then I look in the mirror and get depressed thinking how am I gonna pay for new teeth & who will like a man with missing front teeth. I’ve heard this is about stress & loss of family. My aunt who is born the day after me died in September 2010. But @the same time I’m stressing out bc I can’t find a job at all & everyone around me finds them so easy.

  • rose // Feb 19, 2011 at 10:21 pm

In my dream that I had last night, I was growing tiny teeth behind the ones that were already there. And I was so anxious to get the new ones in that the other ones either fell out or I pulled them out. but then I regretted it when I looked in the mirror and saw just my gums….

  • Lace // Feb 10, 2011 at 3:30 pm

Although the setting is always different, I have been having teeth dreams for some time. I dream that I start to clench my jaw soo tight that my teeth break. In my dream I tried to convince myself to stop and I can’t. I start to feel my teeth start to bend and they break. My 19 year old brother just recently passed away, and upon reading the description Im thinking all my repressed thoughts and emotions might be overwhelming me about him. I want to stop having these dreams though. Ugh.

  • Nurse Joy // Feb 7, 2011 at 9:24 pm

Every once in a while I have dreams where some of my teeth fall out together but I always put them back so no one will know I’m a toothless weirdo. Those dreams usually don’t bother me at all but there was this one time that I had a dream where I was eating teeth. I don’t remember much of the dream, only that I was given teeth in a small bowl (sort of resembled cereal) so I ate them and I thought they didn’t taste bad at all and asked for more. I would really like to know what this whole eating teeth thing means because so far I haven’t seen anyone post anything about it :c also I’ve had dreams where I strategically cut one of my fingers off. I don’t know if it matters but I am 17.

  • dreamer // Jan 29, 2011 at 7:39 am

I have had dreams many of times about my teeth just crumbling in my mouth all at once and spitting them out. But last night it was a little different. In my dream I had to get false teeth for some reason. When i got home I looked in the mirror and my false teeth started falling out. They were rotten looking and smelt really bad. I pulled them ALL out into my hand, and when I looked in the mirror all I could see was gums.. It was really scary. I think it’s been just a lot of aggravation lately, I don’t know…

  • gothceltgirl // Jan 28, 2011 at 4:44 pm

I simply dreamed that my teeth were dirty with foodstuff or some kind of crust and I kept trying to lick them but only a little of the stuff would come off. What’s that about? I can’t seem to find that anywhere! The closest is the dentist cleaning thing above, but I was simply looking at mine (in the dream) in a mirror and noticing how dirty they were. I also felt really self-conscious about it, which feels significant.

  • tasha // Jan 26, 2011 at 11:35 pm

I had a dream where I was going on a field trip with my best friend and we were in boston but it was like a country. And we went to a mall that was huge and named atlanta. I randomly started mashing my teeth together until this clicking sound happened and I did it over and over again. All of a sudden I coughed and spit out sum pieces of my teeth. I freaked out and ran to a cvs in the mall and found this lady and said to her I need a mouthguard now! She’s just like oh yes let me find one. And was taking her time. I kept mashing, feeling the clicky sound and spitting out pieces of teeth until I couldn’t feel much left and I kept crying. Then I woke up. The scary thing is that I used to mash my teeth together when I was a kid as a nervous habit. And it used to make a clicky sound. Luckly I got over it and my teeth had no damage but I’m scared I might start it again because I’m thinking about it too much. I’m 21 btw.

I’m 36 and have been having teeth dreams since I was 18. My first relationship was for 7 yrs and physically abusive. I stopped having the dream when I left him. 3yrs later I was in an alcoholic relationship and my dreams started again, and stopped after 8 years when I left him. Now I am starting a new relationship and I feel the red flags going up because I am starting to have my teeth dream. In my dreams I am always looking in the mirror, pulling my own teeth out. Sometimes I am even spitting them into my hands.

I just had a dream that 2 of my teeth had fallen out. Then for some reason, I felt a couple of bumps on my head. I looked to see what the bumps were and it was 3-4 teeth growing in my head. In my dream I was really grossed out and ripped them out.

  • Taylor // Jan 20, 2011 at 2:11 pm

I had a dream about 3 of my bottom teeth becoming loose and bleeding & falling out 2 nights ago. Yesterday I looked up the meaning & it said it predicted the death of a family member. An hour ago my mom called me saying my nana died…

  • Jeri // Jan 15, 2011 at 11:39 am

In my dream, my teeth weren’t just falling out, they were crumbling in my hands. The top four teeth were still there and so were the very back teeth. Only about four from each side on the top came out. More on the bottom, but still not the front or back ones. Some of my teeth didn’t crumble. I went to the dentist to see if he was able to place my teeth back in. Never made it past the lobby in the dentist office. I had somebody with me. I cannot remember the sex or significance of this person to my life. They were comforting me and holding me, though.

I am 20, and have been having teeth dreams for a few years now. I have one around once a month I would say. They have always been distressing, but the last one I had makes me see all the others in a much more positive way. The last teeth dream I had was so painful and graphic and involved my teeth being forced out of their setting, pushing against their neighbouring tooth whilst still set in my gum. It was like a wrench was between my two front teeth pushing them opposite ways, seperating and tearing my gums, Some teeth fell out as well. Absolutely horrid

  • Vera // Jan 11, 2011 at 7:19 am

I have been experiencing ‘teeth’ dreams since I was a child.
I have the understanding that teeth symbolise those around you…family/friends.

I experienced repeat dreams of teeth being all crooked and twisted that had to be removed.
Basically this meant that in my life I had certain friends that I needed to extract from my life. Like the twisted and crooked teeth portayed in my dream…they were twisted and crooked friends that were doing me no good and time to let them go.

Recently though I had a horrific dream where my front tooth was knocked out. It was messy with blood and pain.
It has me quite alarmed cause the front teeth symbolise the most important people in your life such as a partner.
I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what pans out in the coming weeks to find out.
I’ve never had a dream where my teeth have been knocked out.
It concerns me a bit…the blood and pain also associated with the dream doesn’t make it look good 🙁

  • Lauren // Jan 10, 2011 at 12:12 pm

I have had a dream that I ripped all my teeth out from my mouth. When I touched them it was like they were loose and as soon as I touched them they snapped from the root. So I pulled them all out.

In a nutshell; DREAM> at some point I coughed, immediately an eyetooth came from my throat, landed in my left hand, I used my tongue to locate a void in my toothline and found none. The tooth was healthy; no tartar, decay, or discoloration of anykind as well as no missing teeth in my gumline. I’ve never dreamed of teeth on this level. I hope the specifics can help you help me to understand better. Thank you.

I have the exact same problem Amy. I will dream of my teeth breaking or falling out and in my dream I think the same thing, I tell myself, “OK this is it.” I can’t do anything about it. I freak out cuz I feel as if, when I say that, I am really awake. I have just recently been able to make myself wake up the last couple of these dreams. I wonder what the part where we think “this is it” means.

  • amy // Jan 4, 2011 at 2:27 am

I have had dreams of my teeth coming out for years and i’m only 22. In my dreams my teeth have come out in a number of disturbing ways: they have been beaten out with a pole, pulled out by myself, dissolved in my mouth, to just dropping out and every time I think “this is it now” they have actually come out! I have read so many explanations for this but I still have the dreams so often I now know they are dreams and have to try and wake myself.

I had a dream last night that my exhusband had hit me in the mouth and next thing i knew i was riding in a car with my mom and grandma and i noticed my upper teeth were feeling loose. i played with them a little bit then the next thing i knew my whole upper teeth and gums came completely out but there was no bleeding. my mom panict and told my grandma to stop at this dental office i just happened to go to as a kid. at this point i was holding my whole upper gums and teeth in my hand trying to make them fit back in my mouth without having any success. i was sitting in the waiting room with other people and no one really had any concern for me…i kept trying to talk asking for them to hury and help me but they casually were telling me to sit and wait. i could literally feel that my whole upper mouth was hollowed out and missing. then I noticed that in the front windows of the dentist office was a mini detailed sand castle display with flowing water around it and i felt compelled to sit and admire it? what kind of craziness could all of this mean? happy new year to me!?

I had a horrible dream last night where I realized I was grinding my teeth and then I uncontrollably ground them and they were like burnt coal in my mouth and I had to spit them into the sink but they just kept coming and it took forever to spit all of my broken burnt teeth out of my mouth

  • Heather // Dec 27, 2010 at 8:17 pm

I don’t remember much of my dream, but what I remember is that I was flossing my teeth and my front tooth cracked a little and fell out.. My front teeth are half fake from when I chipped them – not sure if that makes a difference or not but I remember waking up saying, “I really need to get them redone.”

  • Jennifer // Dec 22, 2010 at 4:27 pm

I was the observer in my dream. Many people were going to a dentist who promised teeth implants at an affordable price. Many took advantage of this, but as I saw them walk away from this place, they realized that their teeth were crooked and mis-shaped. It was an outrage; they were mourning the fact that this was not fixable because the teeth were implants and permanent.

  • Molly // Dec 8, 2010 at 1:12 pm

I was so glad to read everyone’s messages about their dreams about teeth falling out. I have been having dreams like this for a long time but it seems like the past 2 months or so I’m constantly having dreams where I’ll feel a loose tooth, play with it like did when I was a kid then I would pull it out. Then I freak out because I realize Im an adult with poor dental insurance that just pulled out a tooth and now I have a hole in my mouth and theres nothing I can do about it. Then the rest of the dream goes on somewhat normal. When I wake I always run and check my teeth – luckily always there. I’m reading that this could mean a family member passing or fear of getting older. I believe that the latter applies due to my recent finding of wrinkles and grey hair. Strange and interesting how the mind works.

I have a genuine fear of losing my teeth.
And i am constantly having dreams about it….them rotting away or just falling out and it is extremely painful and life-like.
Last night I had a dream that I was having a dream that my teeth were falling out and I woke up from that dream within a dream and my teeth were falling out and I woke up from the dream to reality and it scared me.
I am now going to blame it ALL on my fear of growing up. I’ve been terrified of aging ever since i started school. ): ehhh

I have this dream whenever someone is about to die in my family where my teeth are putty and when I close my jaw they bend outward. I can’t set them against each other to support my jaw. So I take a blow drier and dry them trying to make them more solid. Then when I press them together they go every which way painfully and some of them shatter. When I wake up my mouth isn’t any different and doesn’t hurt but somehow I still had the dream.

  • frankislame // Nov 27, 2010 at 12:27 pm

This is weird, but I keep having dreams that one of my teeth is loose, and I keep wiggling it with my tongue – like when I was little, then it pops, and slides out to reveal a new tooth. Usually when I have this dream I never remember anything else, and I seem to wake up after I examine the new tooth…

My friend calls me to tell me she had a dream we were out drinking and my tooth fell out. Normal people may think nothing of this but in the past I’ve had several dreams where my teeth fell out and someone close to me died!! Does this mean my friend had a dream predicting I was gonna die I know sounds crazy but I’m freaking out. Does anyone know what it means when you dream someone else’s tooth falls out. Is it he same meaning as when it’s your own. I tried looking it up but it only talks about your own.

  • Jason // Oct 25, 2010 at 1:58 pm

I once had a very complicated “story dream” that centered around my teeth. Hopefully someone can tell me what this means.

My dream started with me walking into an underground tunnel and emerging inside a huge stadium which was not yet completed (there was construction equipment all over the place). I used to have braces and now wear retainers, and in my dream I took my retainers off and threw them in a garbage can for no particular reason.

Then all of a sudden the stadium I was in changed to a riding arena. I was riding a horse around the pen when I began to feel my teeth with my tongue, and I realized that there was a huge “hole” in my mouth – my front teeth and gums were missing! I started freaking out and ran over to the trash can that I threw my retainers in. I plucked them out and saw with horror that what I can only describe as a “chunk” of my teeth and gums were stuck in the top retainer. My mouth was not bleeding but it hurt like hell, so I ran out of the stadium holding my retainer and tooth/gum piece in my hand. I ran home and looked in the mirror and tried to put them back in but it was no use – the teeth that I still had were now growing crooked and the teeth that had fallen out wouldn’t fit back in.

Then the setting of the dream changed again. It was now nighttime and I was in the middle of the parking lot of a gas station in a small town, still holding my retainer, but I soon realized that my tooth/gum thing was gone! Just then a couple school friends walked up to me and told me they had thrown my teeth in the trash. I started running toward the dumpster but it was already being unloaded into a garbage truck and they drove off before I could get there.

Somehow, I knew where the garbage truck driver lived so I ran to his house and he answered the door. I explained that my teeth were missing and had been thrown in the garbage. He told me there was nothing he could do except let me look through the dump. I used his pickup truck to drive there but I realized that so many trucks had dumped in the same place that it would be impossible to know where my teeth were at. I felt weak and abandoned, and I sank to my knees in the scum and filth, put my hands on my face and just started to sob. I woke up then, soaked with sweat and shivering because it was cold and I’d thrown my blanket off.

I had this dream over a year ago, but it was such an emotional experience that I still vividly remember it and I think about it every time I brush my teeth.

Last night, I dreamed of looking in the mirror and all of a sudden, all of my upper front teeth fell and I spit them out. Not only could I see the teeth but also the blood in my gums. I am worried because I have always heard that dreaming of falling teeth means death in the family or a family friend.

  • jacentah // Oct 15, 2010 at 6:15 am

Had a dream last that my front right tooth was loose and I started pulling it out. And it had like veins and tissue attached to it ( I know this is not actually true ) but I kept pulling and tugging at the long strain covered in blood. And finally the the tooth and tissue was out and I started bleeding and blood filled my mouth. I ran to the nearest store in my dream ( best buy ) LOL and collapsed on the counter . . . I am only 17 ….

Three days ago I had dreamt that all my teeth fell out. I spit them out into my hands washed them in the sink, and tried to put them back in. I called my mother to tell her that they had fallen out, but when I was feeling around in my mouth I had found out that new teeth were beginning to push out the gums. What does this mean?

  • Jocelyn // Oct 6, 2010 at 5:34 pm

Last night I had a dream that I was munching peanuts. After a while, I’ve felt that there was something wrong in my front tooth. When I looked at the mirror, i found out that my front tooth was broken. Aware that my 3 front teeth have porcelain jackets, I hurried to look for a part that was missing. I was disappointed when I did not find it because I have to save again for the expenses of tooth “repair” aside from looking awful again everytime I smile.

Presently, I have financial and career concerns. Added to that I’m worried with my mom because she gets sickly but I can’t help out much because of my financial limitations.

  • liz // Sep 25, 2010 at 10:23 am

I had a dream in which my front teeth were all cracked and then all of the other teeth had all sorts of food in them and I couldn’t get the teeth out. No matter how hard I flossed the food wouldn’t come out. And then to make matters worse my front teeth were on the point of falling off.

  • lindy // Sep 23, 2010 at 10:46 pm

i have had the same dream a few times where my teeth, specifically the molars all just start to crumble into hundreds of pieces (like shattered glass) and I try to open my mouth but my jaw is very tight and makes a cracking sound as it stretches open. I then have to spit all these splinters out as the teeth keep breaking up.

  • John // Sep 6, 2010 at 1:54 am

Lauren – I frequently have the exact same dream where my teeth are pushing together. Sometimes they’re pushing together so hard that I cannot open my mouth without breaking them and spitting out the broken bits. I have no idea what it means!

  • Kel // Sep 5, 2010 at 4:46 pm

Had a dream a few nights back and the residual effect brought me to look up interpretations on the web. Read though everyone’s here and don’t see the same scenario. I somehow got a dental tool and one by one was pulling my own teeth out. No pain (and was surprised by that while dreaming) and no blood. All intentions were to pull them all out, but one on the top and one on the bottom remained by the time I woke up.

  • Dan // Sep 2, 2010 at 8:49 am

Kaitlynn from 6/26/10… I have that EXACT same dream. I tried to explain it a few times to people and they look at me like I’m crazy. I couldn’t describe it very well, but you put it to words much better than me. I’ve had this dream several times. So glad I’m not the only one!

  • Mailan // Aug 30, 2010 at 6:48 am

About a month ago I had a dream about my tooth falling out. It was really strange so I told my parents. They said that someone in your family will die. I didn’t know how to stop that from happening, so I asked my grandma. She said that in order for that not to happen, you have but on your pilliow. But I didn’t do so, because I didn’t think anything would happen. Then, two weeks later, we found out that my uncle was stabbed to death. I was so sad untill I remembered about the dream I had. I’m not so sure if the dream was a prediction or not, but I still blame myself for it.

Last night, I had a dream about three of my teeth being black under my braces. When I woke up, I checked my teeth and they appeared white. This morning, I asked my grandma what it means and she said that it means something bad will happen to one of your family members. I’m still very curious as to why I’m having these dreams about my teeth.

  • Jo // Aug 29, 2010 at 8:50 am

I dream that my teeth are loose and all of the sudden fall out. I sometimes try to place them back in my mouth, especially if they are my front teeth. I don’t feel too stressed in my life right now, I wonder why I have these teeth dreams?

  • Egotystik // Aug 26, 2010 at 3:40 am

I just woke up from this dream… i’ve always been self conscious about my teeth… but in my dream, I was in the bathroom when all of the enamel fell off like a pane of glass… it’s like i can still hear the sound of them shattering on the bathroom floor… i looked up into the mirror, and my teeth were perfect… White, straight, beautiful smile. I am in training for another position at work, the work is hard, there’s sooo much to take in… i hope this means i will be happy with the transition to a new department, and that i shouldn’t stress over the information overload that i’m getting and the fear of failing…

  • priya // Aug 19, 2010 at 9:40 pm

I have had a couple of dreams about my teeth that did not occur concurrently, but around the same time of the month. The first one was my teeth had become really ugly. I could see the veins and it was pinkish-red. Kind of resembled shark teeth.

The second dream, my I was touching my tooth with my finger, and it broke. Suddenly, they all started falling off and chipping, until I became toothless. The weird thing was it felt “right” to be rid of all the teeth rather than just one falling off.

The third dream I had was, I broke my own tooth.

  • Annie // Aug 4, 2010 at 12:50 pm

A couple nights ago I dreamt that I found someone else’s teeth and made a necklace out of them. Yesterday I was at my Grandpa’s for dinner and found plaster teeth, dentistry tools, etc… in his basement (he collects medical antiques), and decided to keep an old crown and set of plaster teeth. Now that I found these teeth in real life, I can’t quite remember the dream..

  • kiki // Jul 11, 2010 at 12:04 am

Last night I had a really odd dream – my teeth were bleeding from the teeth themselves and they didn’t hurt – not one bit. It was a really deep red and then they started to crumble. I have heard that when your teeth are in pain it means that there’s happiness/ celebration in the house but there was no pain in this case.

  • squiddli // Jul 4, 2010 at 12:26 am

My tooth cracked yesterday, it was horrible, I was just eating bread and then i heard a cracking noise and had this horrible sinking feeling…….
Then I had a dream where my tooth fell out and I was glad, because it was the broken one, and I kept walking and as I walked all my other teeth fell into my hand.
I have a lot of problems with my teeth, I have a chipped one, a broken one and last year had to get surgery on one that wasn’t supposed to be there……

  • Kaitlynn // Jun 26, 2010 at 5:41 pm

In my dreams, I’ll just be having a normal dream.. but for some reason I have an under-bite and I keep pulling my jaw in until my teeth break. Or I’ll try to open my jaw and it just yanks them out…

  • terra // May 15, 2010 at 4:32 pm

I did have coffee last night at 6 (unusual) and felt a bit uneasy from it.
The teeth dreams are fairly common.
Anxiety is not new in my life. Started getting a few white strands at nineteen.
I wrapped my broken ADULT tooth in a paper towel last night. It was a big tooth and sharp. I was concerned about the way I would look with it missing. I thought about what I could do to try to fix it.
I’ve dreamed before of crumbling teeth, being quite alarmed by teeth coming out and quite rational too (somehow I think I heard in real life, if you put it in milk they can put it back in?) Anyhow, I was thinking of doing that in one dream I had.
I would like to know what the dream meant. Not super satisfied with the definitions offered.
I was thinking maybe its about going through changes. Like you lose your teeth when you are a child and then you get adult teeth. Here I am now losing irreplacable adult teeth..

  • Martin // May 9, 2010 at 8:33 am

I was looking this up because yesterday my brother and I were at my mom’s house — she had died two weeks ago and we were going through and sorting her things. I was in her bedroom sorting and felt a space in my upper toothline. I had a missing tooth! It had fallen out somehow – I did not feel anything and could not find the tooth. I assume I swallowed it, but do not recall that at all. I was not eating, just sitting quietly going through papers and things. I went into the other room to tell my brother and he told me that yesterday he lost a tooth in her house! And, it was the same exact positioned tooth as mine!! We were very freaked out as this was REAL, not a dream. I saw above that explanation of losing a tooth in a dream can mean loss or death. It is true for sure, and in real life even spookier!

  • Toothhater // Apr 23, 2010 at 11:58 am

I used to have dreams where my teeth would fall out. The feeling of anxiety was horrible I can remember. I became lucid one time after my teeth started falling out ( I started using teeth as a dreamsign to recognize I was dreaming) and just laughed uncontrollably until I woke up.

  • Elizabeth // Apr 22, 2010 at 3:51 pm

I dreamed that my boss, who is in real life a lawyer, was actually a dentist and I was his long time assistant. He had a lot of patients in the waiting room and I thought he was taking too long, so I treated the patients by pulling out all THEIR teeth. I was concerned about how much anesthesia to give, but every patient woke up happy and thanked me for my services. My boss was mad that I was doing his job without a license. What’s THAT all about?

  • Rachel // Apr 20, 2010 at 4:34 am

I dreamt I was eating a steak. For some reason I was eating it with my hands instead of cultery. As I took the steak away from my mouth, I saw that all my teeth were stuck in it.

  • dreamer // Apr 6, 2010 at 9:52 pm

I have had this dream only once before. it’s where My tooth isn’t quite loose… But, it is bothering me. And I keep putting my tongue on the tooth and playing with it. It gets gradually more and more wobbly over time. And eventually I just decide to pull it out. There is no blood, no pain. I just sort of pull it out so that I will stop playing with it.

I am a 22 yr. old college student going through a small bout of depression lately. Grad school has sort of removed my confidence. And not just academically but also in ways of beauty and my body’s strength. So I woke up the day before I had this dream and decided to change things. I didn’t like feeling the way I did and so I decided to make it different. I had the dream that night. I wonder if perhaps me pulling out the loose tooth is also me overcoming the bothersome loss of self-confidence… thoughts?

  • nikki // Mar 28, 2010 at 5:17 am

I had a dream were a dentist came round my house and took out my back top teeth and did not use any pain killer. I was screaming and then I looked at the teeth and they were black and I had this massive metal thing across my teeth and all I was doing was crying !!!!

  • Yvonne // Feb 16, 2010 at 8:29 am

I’ve knocked out my two front teeth in real life and have reaccurring dreams of breaking all of my teeth into tiny pieces and trying to spit them out while keeping them safe. I also grind my teeth in my sleep which I believe has something to do with it. If you dream a lot about your teeth, consider wearing a mouth guard!

  • kim // Feb 7, 2010 at 8:35 am

So I really don’t know what, if any of the previous were indicated in my dream, but I had a dream last night that my tooth was rotted and half of it fell out, leaving the other half decayed, yellow and crucked in my mouth and i was bleeding perfusly! Then my mom lost her tooth completely… i told her it was the water we were drinking!
one of the weirdest dreams I have had in 10 years!
So would my dream be a mixture of several of the previous interpretations?
if so, i believe life as i know it is doomed, where is my Avatar when I need it?

  • audrey // Feb 1, 2010 at 9:58 pm

i feel a little better knowing a lot of people have negative teeth dreams. of all the ones i have read mine is a little different. in my teeth dreams, they all get really loose, then i try pushing them back up into my gums because i love them and dont want them to fall out, and i am continually pushing them back in, and they become all crooked and out of place and they wont stay, and it really scares me i dont like it at all. im 22 but it might be the whole i think im losing my beauty thing, but i really just hope i stop having them.. it forced me to go to the dentist. they laughed at me. help.

  • Jack // Feb 1, 2010 at 4:28 pm

    Jack
I had a rite bad dream last night, I was at home and my tooth started to wobble big time I was like ohh sh**. I showed my mum and she was like that needs sorting out.

Shuusshh don’t say anything but I have a bad habit of sucking my thumb from time to time, I thought it was that that made my tooth wobbly. Anyways..

Then I was in college and for some reason my parents were there, which was quite strange. My wobbly tooth actually fell out and I was like OMG!! I had to get away, I left my mum and dad and took a long route out of college so no one would see me, then I like clenched my teeth and an incisor crunched, I caught half of it that fell out in my hand and stared at it. Then all but the two very back teeth had fallen out. My mouth looked an absolute mess, also, the two back teeth were stopping me from closing my mouth and everyone could see that my teeth had fallen out. I was stumbling around walking past college with my mouth open, holding all my teeth in my hands and I kept walking past girls who were giving me horrible dirty looks.

    Worst dream ever!

  • Jeanne // Jan 31, 2010 at 9:17 pm

In my dream I am caring for a little girl of about 2 years in age. She has very rosy cheeks and her name is Apple. I love this child and am terribly anguished that when she smiles or talks, her teeth are exposed. There are 2 sets, one is quite normal, the other is not attached to anything, and float around inside of her mouth. The second set of teeth are in terrible shape, crooked, decayed and quite yellow. I am quite shaken upon waking from this dream. I hope someone can offer an explanation – thanks!

  • Lauren // Jan 29, 2010 at 1:22 pm

I have recurring dreams where my teeth are pushing together, and they eventually push together so hard they start breaking….sometime I spit pieces out, sometimes not. I never feel pain, but I sometimes I feel like I can literally feel the pressure of it happening. I have not been able to find anyone else with this kind of dream, maybe someone has an explanation?

  • Stephanie // Jan 26, 2010 at 12:57 pm

I had a dream where my teeth were decaying and getting smaller each time I looked at them until sections at a time they would disappear. And they got more crooked each time… I’m not sure what it means though…

  • Nicole // Jan 20, 2010 at 12:13 pm

I had a dream last night where I lost one of my teeth. The thing is, there was a huge hole it. And I mean huge as the tooth was huge. My sister and I (who was in the dream with me) just stared at it. My sister was holding my tooth. I felt no pain but as soon as we went to put our finger through the hole, the hole fell out and became a bigger hole (In my dream I said it was a cavity, which I do have tons of.) What could this dream mean?

  • Sam // Jan 14, 2010 at 5:57 pm

Ok, so although it may not be the main topic in my dream, i do loose a tooth.
General storyline is Hitler is actually Jesus, in a wheel chair, & being hunted down by several assassins, whom i am trying to save him from. Throughout the dream one of my front teeth is getting looser & looser, until, when Hitler get shot on a bus, & then dies on a pile of gravel, it falls out. The female assassin is trying to go after one of the other survivors (she killed everyone else on the bus straight off except for me, Hitler & some other guy), but i stop her, & she comes over with me to see Hitler dying, which is when my loose tooth falls out. She grabbed me and looked in my mouth & said “hmm, that means you’re..” & then i woke up before she finished…

Last night I dreamed that I went up in an airplane, but the plane went too high, above the o-zone layer..and then afterwards my teeth were all breaking and pieces of them were falling out (I had a pile of bits of teeth on the table) and I remember ones on the bottom hurting a lot.
Weird dream-very upsetting..I had braces twice and value my straight perfect teeth a lot. I hope this doesn’t mean anything bad in real life!!

  • Kaleigh // Jan 8, 2010 at 2:05 pm

My dream last night was that my teeth were completely covered by my gums. I could actually feel the gums and I was horrified. I would try to talk to people but no one could understand me and no one even acknowledged my gums sticking out of my mouth. Eventually later in the dream the gums faded away and so did my front teeth and all I had was misshapen back teeth. I’ve had tons of reoccurring dreams about my teeth falling out and then my chewing on them and spitting them out. But this one was by far the worst!

  • jamblo // Dec 22, 2009 at 6:37 pm

Get this…last week I had a dream that one of my front teeth was loose, so I started wiggling it then it came out. Then I reached in my mouth to feel if any others were loose, but my teeth had all turned into little mini sharks that were trying to bite my fingers! Weird right?

Then I went to see Avatar last night and was having an Avatar-themed dream, running through the forest, etc. when one of my lower front teeth fell out. Then, low and behold, I reached into my mouth and started pulling out my other teeth (no mini sharks this time).

    What gives?

  • Patrick // Dec 13, 2009 at 4:20 pm

I’ve had about 6 dreams in the past two or three months about my teeth falling out. I think one of the reasons is that I don’t feel like people really want to listen to me and don’t understand me. Mixed with loss of self/hope – not getting what you really want. Every time in the dreams before the teeth fall out, something bad happened right before, like crashing a car for example. The most recent one I had, which was last night, the teeth fell out a couple at a time. Then all my upper front teeth came off as one, and there were strong healthy teeth behind it…hope that’s a good sign, maybe I won’t dream it again. Its pretty chilling to dream about your teeth falling out..feels so real every time.

Okay i just woke up from a dream ive been having for several months now. My dreams are always normal sometimes good sometimes bad but they turn worse partway thru.. My jaw becomes clamped shut an im doin everything i can to open it. I even try to pry it open with my hands..but it hurts very badly. I feel as if my teeth are about to break but they never do. The left side of my jaw hurts the most in my dreams. Its a terrible feeling and its been happening every nite. In my dream I feel helpless. Its like my jaw just isnt supposed to open as much as i want it to.. Also when im awake i cant clamp my jaw together tight enough to make it hurt. So is the pain in my mind too? Can anyone help. Im thinkin of getting a mouth piece just to c if it helps.

I’m 17, and I have no problems with my teeth, they are perfectly fine. but for more than a year now I’ve been having these wierd dreams where I’m clenching my teeth, and putting a LOT of force on my teeth, that it hurts, and often I know that its a dream and I try to wake up (because the dream for me is so uncomfortable, painful and I feel so helpless) but I cant. I cant stop my jaw from opening, I try soooo hard. A while ago I started having this dream almost every single night, and I wouldnt want to go to sleep. I’m not exagerrating it but I terrified by them. so I would love to know why I am having these dreams.

  • yanissa // Nov 27, 2009 at 3:38 am

I dreamed last night that Iost all my back teeth up and down but my front teeth were still there, strong and healthy.Iin my dream, I was touching my teeth on the inner side and they are all loose, so I pulled them out using my fingers, put into my palm. Then I said, why don’t I just loosen all my teeth so I can have new implanted teeth, so it’ll be all fine? I asked that in my dream. And then i woke up. I keep asking myself what is the meaning of it. I told these to my fiancee and my best friend who lives in the Philppines. Then she helps me think about the meaning, suddenly i remember when i was a child, my mom used to tell me about the meaning of dreaming about teeth.”someone die on family, relatives, or close friends” Hmm that’s really a bad meaning, but like I always said, “dont believe it when you dont want it to be happen” So I DONT BELIEVE ALL THE MEANINGs” of losing teeth.

  • Jennifer // Nov 24, 2009 at 8:41 am

I had a dream that i was brushing my teeth with a teeth whitener toothpaste and it made my teeth almost clear and softened them up and they all came out together almost like a mouth guard…my gums were fine…no blood no pain….and I didn’t say anything in my dream, I just smiled with a closed mouth…I found it disturbing and scary.

  • Joey // Nov 24, 2009 at 6:58 am

I had a dream, very very confusing, there was many mixed themes, and at some point, my teeth. I’ve been trying to figure out the meaning to them… here goes; I murdered several people, argued with more people, then i was walking up my stairs to get into my house, and kept tripping and falling on my face at least 5 times. I had broken my nose and bloodied my face. When i entered the house i went to the mirror to see what had happened, then i opened my mouth to see my teeth and they started to shatter in my mouth right before my eyes, in a panic i screamed uncontrollably and smashed my head into the mirror… that’s where my dream stopped.
It seems that one some point in my dreams they always end up with my teeth breaking the exact same way, and the worst part is that these dreams are happening very often lately…

Dear shane the dream that you’ve defined is exactly what I’m experiencing these days. It’s just been 2 months since these started. Every night it’s a different dream but at some point I always experience my teeth crumbling and completely loosing out. I think there is really something that my dreams are telling me cause its just not normal to have the same dream repeatedly. If anyone knows about it plzz do share your thoughts. Thank you

  • sweet // Nov 5, 2009 at 1:17 am

Dreaming of loosing a tooth is trying to warn you that someone in your family is going to die. I have dreamt of losing a tooth before and every time I lose a tooth someone that is close to me or a relative dies. My mom always tells me that every time I dream of losing teeth I should just keep it to myself because the more you say it to people the more possibility that someone is going to die. She always tells me to always bite on a piece of wood right when you wake up after having this dream.

  • Jason // Nov 4, 2009 at 9:11 am

I’ve had several dreams where I was pressing my teeth together awkwardly and wanted to stop but I couldn’t until it felt like my teeth were going to fall out. Last Night I had a similar dream but when I did that half of my teeth broke out and they were all hollow. I ran to the kitchen table where my mother and grandfather were eating. When I showed them the teeth in my hand they just looked at me and didn’t say anything.

I dreamed I was staying in a hotel with a large group of people, but i had a private room, we were getting ready to leave, but i had not packed yet, so i hurried back to the room and began franticly packing. I remember finding things behind the bed, then i looked in the mirror and my two front bottom teeth were missing, and when i pressed on them it hurt and was bloody. I ran out of the room, but covered my mouth so no one could see. I remember thinking how ugly it was, and that I needed to fix them asap. ( my fiance and I had an argument the night of the dream, and stayed out all night)

I plucked it out and was stunned to see it, and the remaining bottom teeth, were rotted through. I’m fussy about my teeth and have looked after them all my life. I’ve got a lot going on in my life at the moment and I’m nervous about this dream.

  • Tyler // Sep 14, 2009 at 7:13 pm

The dream I had was one of the most vivid I have ever had. In it I had some discomfort in one of my lower teeth. The tooth was the fourth from the back on the lower left side of my mouth. I reached in to feel it and it simply fell out. Panicking, I dropped the tooth on to the floor and felt where I had pulled it from. To my surprise the tooth was still in my head. I grabbed a hold of new tooth and the two surrounding it and broke all of them out. They were extremely brittle and broke out with very little force leaving little pieces of tooth in my mouth. The teeth kept reappearing in my mouth and I eventually started to break them out with both hands. I remember looking down and seeing a mound of bloody teeth and feeling excruciating pain. The sensation lasted only for a brief period before I woke up. This happened to me about four months ago and I can still remember almost every detail.

I took a nap in the afternoon today and dreamt that I was pushing my upper teeth inside with my lower ones and as a result one of my upper left tooth came out. I went to the sink to spit it out and to rinse my mouth as my gums were bleeding. After some time i realized that I had left the tooth in the sink and so went back to pick it up.

Dreamed my homeboy was missing his front teeth, both top and bottom. He was walking down the street to my moms house. I was out in the front yard and I greeted him at the end of the driveway. (Mind you, I haven’t seen him in a couple of years.) He smiled, I saw his mouth but before I could ask him what happened, he told me “his kids did it and they had put something in his drink.” Help me please!

  • foxxylinda // Aug 22, 2009 at 5:30 pm

    I hate these dreams!
I have a phobia where I’m terribly scared that I’ll lose my teeth in REAL LIFE, and my “falling out” dreams don’t make it any easier.
Every time I have one of these dreams someone I know, or even if I don’t know, celebrities, etc dies. I know it’s strange but it happens 90% of the time.
Now it’s not just people…It’s jobs…losing items…anything that can be “lost”.
Dreaming of teeth falling out, especially the front tooth, it’s a sign of bad karma.

Last night, I had a dream that i lost 3 of my teeth. It scared me, but I realized that I’ve been stressing for the past couple of months about life and work. It seems like I stressed myself out to the point that I don’t know what my ambitions are. I hope this dream shows me a different light. 😉

I have a recurring dream, although only about 3-4 times a year, where I am being chased by one or more people who are trying to pull my teeth out. I usually end up making it to my apartment and locking myself in but the teeth-stealers end up getting in and pulling at least one of my teeth out.

  • samantha // Aug 1, 2009 at 7:17 am

I’ve dreamt of losing teeth 2 times before in the past and both times, not long after, someone passes away.

these couple of weeks though, i’ve had 2 different/new dreams about teeth. the first one, i just remember that on the top row of my teeth, there was a hidden “tooth plate” (where there is real gum and then a “sheet of holes made from the material teeth are made of…and the holes are supposed to lock/keep my actual teeth into place…similar to a retainer). in my dream it all of a sudden slides down and first, I’m really surprised bcuz i never knew such a thing existed in my mouth and second, i get really scared bcuz if it falls off, there will b nothing to lock/keep my teeth in place and they will all fall off. i keep on pushing it back up to the roof of my mouth so it will stay there but it just slides back down. then i get really scared and start crying and i get goosebumps just thinking about it bcuz it was so realistic.

my second dream, which i just woke up from, was of a bleeding tooth. i was looking in the mirror and i feel this wiggly tooth. i get scared bcuz im 19, and not supposed to be losing more teeth, and so I double check to c if its really loose. and indeed it was (in the dream). i push it up into the gums to c if it would stop the looseness and it starts bleeding a bit. then i check the other teeth around it and find that they are starting to become loose, but not as loose as the original one. again, it was really realistic.

i HATE these dreams. i never know i’m dreaming in it and i think its real. and it doesn’t help after reading these interpretations bcuz they all mean something negative. there’s nothing going on in my life right now…well, one of my close friends admitted to me that she was bi recently but i kinda already knew that all along so it was not a big surprise and nothing has changed between us. and i wear retainers in real life, and i’m about to get my wisdom teeth pulled out soon…i don’t know if that’s why? i hope so…bcuz i don’t want “failures and mishaps to occur”

  • onomiba // Jun 13, 2009 at 11:23 am

I keep dreaming about me pulling out my own lower teeth and destroying them with my own hand to dust.

I dream about this very often.

  • Victor // May 28, 2009 at 5:50 pm

I have dreams sometimes where one or more of my teeth breaks. I broke a molar in real life and had the filling break a few times, so I really know what it feels like. What always surprises me about breaking teeth dreams is how REAL the feeling of the broken tooth is in my mouth, the chips of it moving around until I can find them and get them out. I guess in other dreams I’m just not as aware of the physical sensation of the “dream world” but these just feel so real I almost think that something must have been in my mouth in real life while I was sleeping that made me have these dreams.

  • Secret // May 24, 2009 at 10:58 pm

I have dreams about my teeth being loose, so I don’t mess with them, then my tounge brushes against one, and it falls out. Then another, until the whole right side of the top of my mouth is toothless. I’m usually holding the teeth in my hand and trying to put them back in, and I wake myself up because I’m whimpering out loud. I’ve been having these dreams for about a month now at least 5 times a week. I have no idea what they could possibly mean, but it’s very discomforting.

  • Irene // Apr 30, 2009 at 5:23 am

I just dreamt that one by one 3 of my back teeth became loose and so I pulled them out. One of them already had another tooth growing. In the dream I was not scared, anxious etc and was actually quite pleased because (even although I am in 20s so won’t grow new ones) new healthier ones would grow in. This doesn’t seem to fit with any of the descriptions of anxiety and loss etc, so wasn’t sure what to make of it.

  • Danielle // Apr 29, 2009 at 10:00 am

Last night I dreamt I was standing in front of my bedroom systematically reaching into my mouth and crushing my teeth one my one. There was no pain in the dream, just disgust because the teeth would crumble between my fingers like a dried up leaf. In the dream I looked inside my mouth and inside my gums where my teeth should have been there were strange looking worms ( like tube worms if anyone watches documentaries on coral… ) There was no pain or terror in the dream, but I woke up and my heart was pounding so bad it hurt. Not pleasant, no idea what it means.

  • legaldiva // Apr 21, 2009 at 8:52 am

I dreamed that a guy (one that I was not particularly interested in) was turned off because my teeth were too sharp. WTF does that mean??

  • Gina // Apr 12, 2009 at 12:33 pm

Once in a while, I will have a dream where my teeth begin by falling out one at a time, they just come loose and fall out and then I spit them out. But then they start coming in greater amounts, so that my mouth is filled (impossibly so) with teeth that I am spitting out–more teeth than I could ever possibly have. And I realize it is not as if I suddenly have bare gums–my mouth is intact. It’s almost like my mouth is magically producing teeth. Like that magician’s trick with the scarves up his sleeve, or thirty clowns getting out of a very small car. Eventually it’s almost as if the teeth are pouring out of me. As you might imagine, these dreams seem quite urgent.

  • Cristina // Apr 3, 2009 at 8:58 pm

I am 24 and for a few years now, I have been having all different dreams about teeth. Dreams usually start out with normal events but end up with my teeth falling out, cracking, chipping without any warning. A lot of times I try to wake myself up because the dreams are frightening. Also, I know that I clench my jaw in my sleep when I am having these dreams. Sometimes in my dreams my teeth break as a result of me clenching my jaw. I try to pry my jaw open, but I cant. I don’t have any issues with my teeth, but every time I wake up, I check my teeth because I am so scared that one night I will actually break my teeth in my sleep. I am used to having these dreams, but they scare me every time. I wish I knew why I had these dreams. They are horrible. Any ideas?

  • Angie // Mar 25, 2009 at 12:07 pm

I had a dream – second day in a row, with my teeth having food stuck in them!

  • April // Mar 24, 2009 at 10:32 am

I dreamt that I wanted whiter teeth and you had to brush them with this particular toothpaste so they became wobbly and fall out. Once they had become wobbly they all of a sudden were in a black box that represented the teeth and gums. It was like a replicar of the mouth but black and showed all the things that were wrong with my teeth.
After this i could get them out the box and put them back in and they were perfect and white again.

  • Jim // Mar 2, 2009 at 4:41 pm

I dreamt that my neighbor ran by my house, then my teeth started to push each other in my mouth When I tried to align them back together they felt as though they were about to fall out but only one did, my left front tooth fell onto the fingers I was using to check it.
This is probably the second time I have had a dream about teeth falling out.

  • Elizabeth // Feb 28, 2009 at 10:03 am

I dreamt of spitting out a bloody molar last night, and I know they say teeth dreams are very common, but this is the first time that teeth have entered my dreams. It was extremely vivid and unsettling. Oral hygiene has always been important to me and I have never even had a cavity, so losing a tooth upset me tremendously in the dream.

  • Russell // Feb 27, 2009 at 4:47 pm

I have the same dream a lot maybe over the past couple of years, where my teeth crumble and chip, I spit them out into my hands and there is heaps of blood and all my teeth start doing the same. I always play with my teeth with my tongue because I had 2 chipped teeth up until a month ago when I got them fixed after 3 years. But the dreams remind me of what it looked like spitting the teeth out, except there was no blood in real life.

  • Jason // Feb 25, 2009 at 10:52 am

    > Mari: It may mean you’re gonna have problems with those teeth and may not necessarily mean anything else. Today I accidentally chipped off a tooth when biting hard on a pork rib, and strangely enough, I dreamt of the same teeth breaking off just a month ago! I thought something was going to happen to my family, but turned out I really broke my tooth. Premonition??

  • Mari // Feb 24, 2009 at 9:26 pm

I had a dream that my first top molar on the left side broke, crumbled and fell out. I spit the pieces out into my hand and looked at my teeth and the same molar on the opposite side did the same thing…spit it out again and when I looked again I had two hole where they were missing and I woke up…it was so weird…any comments??

  • Jason // Feb 19, 2009 at 10:45 pm

A relative of mine dreamt of her tooth breaking in her dream, and one day later, my dad passed away. Sad.

  • sapphire // Feb 19, 2009 at 4:45 am

I just woke up from a dream where my lower right canine was about to fall out. It was very loose on the roots. The only reason it didn’t fall off was I had braces. So I tried to push it back in with my tongue, I didnt talk throughout the whole dream.

It may have a meaning in accordance to our personality. When there is a problem in real life, I would be the one who specifically knows exactly what it is (cause) before anyone else. Though the problems I/we face may seem all too impossible to go through, I would be the one who will somehow manage to find a solution for it since I have the confidence/guidance. The fact that I don’t talk in the dream would symbolize that I am a quiet person; even if I’m having some major problems, I don’t tell it to anyone because I believe that I can handle it on my own.

  • MissP // Feb 5, 2009 at 3:12 am

Last night I dreamt that one of my teeth fell out and I tried quickly to put it back in though I was worried if I had put it in the right way around. It then fell out again and broke into many, many pieces. I thought to myself well I can’t put that back together now. When I looked in the mirror again my other teeth had all moved and filled in the space where the tooth had fallen from.

I thought that maybe this showed that I was concerned about something changing and maybe losing out on something but that everything would work out in the end so that I wouldn’t really miss the thing I had lost. Anyone got a different interpretation?

  • Putri // Jan 25, 2009 at 5:36 am

Hi, in my country of Indonesia, a lot of people believe that dreaming about a falling tooth means very bad luck or a loss of a family member. But I dreamt of a chipped tooth in the front part of my mouth and it hurts a bit, just like when you chip you tooth in real life.

  • mary // Dec 5, 2008 at 6:53 am

I had a dream were I was having a conversation with friends. The only thing I can remember is that we discussed the important, and compliments of one of the girls teeth. What does this mean?

  • Kristy // Nov 14, 2008 at 9:59 am

    Hello,

Last nite I had a dream that I lost two of my front teeth. I looked very funny. I am horrified right now because I am afraid to lose my family and my loved ones. Over 5 years ago, my best friend dreamed of her teacher with no teeth and bleeding all over her mouth. Couple days later her niece died. Last night, me and my boyfriend were talking about teeth. I hope that’s the reason.

  • Brooke // Nov 3, 2008 at 7:12 pm

I always have this dream that my front teeth have a huge gap in them. At least once a month, and in my dream I try to push them back together.

  • Jennifer J // Oct 31, 2008 at 2:44 pm

I had a dream last night about all my teeth falling out. I have been stressing out lately about school work since im just starting my major classes and they have been pretty challenging. I also have been worried about my love life and i have been feeling that im loosing touch with a person that i really like. But overall I believe loosing teeth in a dream is just the all the worries that a person is going through in real life and those worries are causing a “breaking” of self which is manifested in breaking (losing) of teeth.

  • courtney // Oct 14, 2008 at 9:08 am

Last night, I dreamed that a molar broke off and fell out of my mouth. Then, progressively throughout the day, little handfuls of broken teeth and sealants would fall out until all I had was sharp little stubs left. I just lost my father, and it has been extremely painful. From the sounds of this forum, that was probably the cause of the dream.

  • julia // Sep 27, 2008 at 1:23 pm

Ashley, that is really scary to think about.. I’m so sorry about your loss. I’ve had dreams about losing my teeth before… But I had one a couple nights ago and I called my mom today and she said that my grand-pa is gonna have surgery soon. Then I told her about my dream and she asked if there was blood, and i said yeah, so she said it means a blood relative is going to be hurt or something. =/ That’s really scary. I hope my grandpa will be ok.

  • Ashley // Sep 17, 2008 at 12:14 pm

I dreamed that I had lost my front teeth. a month later my mother developed a brain tumor and fell into coma after surgery and died. I think your teeth represent your family members, so loosing them in your dream means a loss is coming 🙁

  • allyson // Sep 14, 2008 at 12:59 am

Last night I had a dream where one of my teeth came out, and then they all started crumbling. They either all fell out, or were severely chipped. This dream was terrifying!!! I woke up and immediately checked my mouth because I thought it was real. I am only 22 years old, so I do not think that I am afraid of getting older. I have been under a tremendous amount of strain though, so hopefully this dream is just a manifestation of all of the stress I have been experiencing as of late.

  • pete // Sep 10, 2008 at 2:08 am

I’ve had a dream where i felt a slight pain in my bottom teeth and as I rubbed it with my tongue it broke and fell out. Upon examining it, it appeared brown with yellow bits, so I looked in the mirror and found all my front teeth were the same. Then as I touched them they just snapped leaving me with a mouthful of teeth to spit into my hand They looked as if they should have been in a 150 year old man’s mouth! Then each time I tried to close my mouth or speak the sharp stumps stopped me from doing so, but there was an old lady who I did not recognise and when I spoke to her my mouth seemed fine and I could speak normally. At the moment in my life I am going through a lot of hardship and feel I can’t speak to or seek advice from anyone… I just wish I knew who the old lady was as she may be the one to help me… Who knows???

  • brittany // Aug 18, 2008 at 12:21 pm

I’ve had this dream several times over the last couple of months. It’s of me being at a party and then I put a little pressure on my jaw and then beginning with my molars, all of my teeth start falling out one by one till I have a huge handful of my teeth…

  • Alysha // Jul 28, 2008 at 6:43 pm

I have had several dreams in the past where my teeth are in so much pain. Often a tooth will be soft, rubbery like and the pain is excruciating. I just had another dream last night, again a tooth was causing pain.

I believe this has something to do with my feelings and state of mind at the moment. My partner of 3 and a half years just suddenly broke off our relationship 3 days ago. I’ve been tough and not yet cried, I’ve kept myself busy but deep inside I think my dreams are letting it out.

Bad tooth: a symbol of a painful part of one’s feelings, life or relationships; angry or regretful words.

  • Julie // Jul 25, 2008 at 1:32 pm

In my dream I was very conscious of pain in my teeth when my first front tooth broke into shards. Looking up into the mirror at my teeth, they started bleeding – and not from the gum but the actual tooth was bleeding black blood. I’ve had other dreams where my gums were raw or my teeth were falling out but nothing like this before.

  • shayna // Jul 19, 2008 at 10:58 am

I had a dream someone put one of those fake teeth things on my teeth that the rappers wear and when she tried to take it off my teeth came out with it. Not all of them, but a few of them and it wasn’t painful. I just picked up the teeth and looked at myself in the mirror. It was my back teeth – none in the front.

  • Steph // Jun 2, 2008 at 2:29 pm

I’ve had several dreams in the past several years about my teeth chipping and/or falling out. I had one last nite that my front tooth (which was chipped in real life when I was 8 and had to get it fixed) chipped again and most of it was gone and I was just staring in the mirror at it. A different tooth was also slightly chipped in the dream. I’ve looked up the meaning in books and on the web and I can’t say for sure what it is, but I do have someone in my life who I trusted completely and I found out I was lied to, which is one of the interpretations.

  • Anon // May 17, 2008 at 1:32 pm

I repeatedly have dreams about my teeth every single night for the past few months and everytime I still wake up scared and sometimes my teeth actually hurt. Some dreams are about them falling out completely and then i put them in a glass of milk. Other times pieces of them chip off. Sometimes they don’t even fall out in my dream, the dream just begins that way and my whole dream I can go with messed up teeth like it’s just my life. I’m a perfectly happy person and nothing is out of the ordinary in my life. I just don’t want to have these dreams anymore!

  • Gisela // May 12, 2008 at 5:56 pm

I literally just had a dream that I was in the bathroom and my tooth is bleeding in the back and it falls out…
and right now in like I am in a relationship which I am not necessarily tired of but I am getting a bit irritated or aggravated…
which isn’t his fault almost at all….
I just feel like other things are important right now…I also feel super stressed out and I feel like I cant talk to anyone and the ones I probably could go to I slowly push away

  • Shehla // May 5, 2008 at 12:57 am

I keep having the “falling teeth” dream. Sometimes it’s just a loose tooth, sometime the tooth falls out and the last one I had was three teeth falling out one after another and I discovered cavities in my teeth (on the inside, rather than on the surface).
Now, in real life I’m very particular about my teeth, I floss regularly and I’ve never had a cavity in my life.
The way I interpret my “falling teeth” dreams is that something which I thought was permanent in my life will change.
Although my last dream does stump me, because I’m not sure what the appearance of cavities seems to indicate.

  • melissa // Feb 29, 2008 at 8:06 am

I have a dream where I’m squeezing my jaw really tight and I feel the pressure on one tooth and it falls out completely from the pressure… What does this mean? I’ve had this dream a lot.

  • Jennie // Feb 4, 2008 at 8:45 am

I have a slightly chipped tooth in real life. This tooth in my dream was getting worse and worse. It darkened and fell out. It crumbled. My other teeth started to get very bad and fall out as well. Eventually I was left with NONE. I had my bottom teeth but my top teeth were gone. I looked like an old lady.

I am 19 years old and I doubt that I was in fear of getting older. I think I am in fear of failing, losing something and I feel helpless at the moment. I hope that this dream says only something about what I feel NOW and does not say anything about my future… I believe dreams are very much so about feelings at the present moment.

  • Eileen // Jan 31, 2008 at 1:05 am

I have this recurring dream that my teeth have all become wider, pushing the surrounding teeth out of my mouth. As a result, I have only 4 teeth left. I feel that this is my subconscious sending me a message that in my waking life, I have pushed people away as a result of many duties and little time. This is possibly a sign that my life has become more focused (or should become more focused), on the few teeth left (important relationships). Most translations of tooth loss in dreams are displayed as being negative, but you never know, right? -3ileen

  • Eileen // Jan 31, 2008 at 12:55 am

I have heard that a dream of the loss of a tooth, or teeth becoming loose, represents the instability of important relationships. Maybe in reality you feel that a close friendship is in jeopardy, or perhaps you fear losing a loved one.

  • Shane // Dec 30, 2007 at 12:06 pm

I’ve had several dreams over the past year about my teeth breaking and crumbling in my mouth. About 6 months before the dreams started, I had chipped a tooth on a fork. For some reason, you think of teeth as permanent and irreplaceable, and when you really chip or break a tooth you have that “Oh, NO!” helpless, horrible feeling for at least a second when in happens. I think the brain captures that feeling and intensifies it through the broken tooth dream. Not pleasant, and the actual interpretation as to /why/ myself or people like me have this dream is a mystery to me, but I’m curious to know if most of the people that have the ‘broken teeth’ dream have experience it in everyday life.
